2nd Casts

GIVING FISHING GEAR A SECOND CHANCE

2ND CASTS, created by Michael Scherer in 2016, was developed when his neighbor Paul died and his children gave him all his fishing equipment. Michael was going through and cleaning the equipment while thinking about 2nd chances and how much fishing ment to his friend and neighbor. That day 2nd CASTS was born.

This program takes in used & surplus fishing gear, cleans and tests the equipment for proper operation and then puts it back into the hands of families and kids, nature centers, state parks, 4-H Clubs, Scouting units and also places some in a 2nd CASTS garage sale to help raise funds for Family Fish Camps to keep them free for families.

Old lead weights and rubber type products that are too old to use, are sent to the proper recycling companies.

Used fishing line is removed from all reels and shipped to Berkley fishing line recycling or Blood Knot Rings where it is melted down and reused in the fishing industry.
