Fishing’s Future and Academy Sports + Outdoors partner to bring angling education to six Texas Markets

Fishing’s Future, a national non-profit organization dedicated to bringing children and their families closer together through an outdoor experience of fishing education, is partnering with Academy Sports + Outdoors in six Texas communities – Austin, San Antonio, El Paso, Brownsville, Katy and Huntsville. Academy Sports + Outdoors is the Official Retailer of Fishing’s Future in these six markets and will share/promote Fishing’s Future events and classes on local store Facebook pages throughout the calendar year.

“We are extremely excited to be partnering with Academy Sports + Outdoors,” said Shane Wilson, Fishing’s Future founder and Texas Freshwater Hall of Fame inductee. “Academy’s brand is family-focused, which lines up with what we stand for. We teach families to fish together, but before they can go fishing, they need gear – that’s where Academy Sports + Outdoors comes in.”

Fishing’s Future will work closely with Academy Sports + Outdoors through their events and Family Fish Camps and during on-site events at store locations in the previously mentioned markets around the state.

Fishing’s Future combines the fishing experience with outdoor education at what are called “Family Fish Camps” (FFC). Camps include learning different fishing techniques, teaching the “Leave No Trace” philosophy and addressing water and outdoor safety practices. The overall goal of Fishing’s Future is to reconnect kids to parents and nature.  During the pandemic, Fishing’s Future will be holding on-line skill sessions and on-site shopping events to assist new and old anglers in selection of equipment and other items for an amazing adventure into the Great Outdoors.
